Pitch & tempo changer

Slow a song down to practise it without changing its pitch, or move it to another key without changing its speed. The two controls are independent.

What the two controls do

Pitch moves the whole track up or down by up to 12 semitones, an octave, in semitone steps. Tempo runs from 50% to 200% of the original speed. Both work by time-stretching, so the tempo stays put when you change the key, and the key stays put when you slow the song down. If the track's key and BPM can be read, the page shows what they will become before you render.

Questions

How do I slow down a song without changing the pitch?

Upload the song, move Tempo below 100% and leave Pitch at 0. At 75% a four-minute song lasts about five minutes twenty, and every note stays where it was. Press Apply and download the result as MP3 or WAV. Go down to 50% for a passage you are learning note by note.

How far can I change the key before it sounds wrong?

One or two semitones are hard to hear as processing. Past three or four, the voice and the instruments start to sound artificial, because they change colour along with the pitch, though the result is still fine to practise on. The control goes to 12 semitones either way for when you need a whole octave.

Can I lower the key of a backing track to fit my voice?

Yes. Upload the karaoke track and move Pitch down, or up, until the melody sits comfortably; the tempo does not change. If you only have the song with vocals, the vocal remover makes the backing first and, once you have found your range in the warm-up, suggests how many semitones to shift it by.

Is it free, and what happens to my file?

Free: up to 3 tracks a day without an account; a free sign-in with Telegram or Google gives you up to 40 an hour. Files up to 60 MB and 6 minutes. The upload and the result stay on our server only so that you can download it, and are deleted automatically two hours later.
